December 2006 ________[12.22.2006]_________________________________ Monday the 18th was the anniversary of my birth we started with
Thai @ Chais then ÒPunk RockÓ bowling was in full effectÉsort of. Oh, there
was bowling alright, however the ÒPunk RockÓ was almost everything but. The first band was
interesting/terrifying. It was like a drone/trainwreck/found footage sort of
mess that was a feedback loop with crappy dialog samples over it. It was
awesome. It made girls walk like zombies. The other two bands were listenable,
and the death metal group that ended the night was actually pretty good. I
bowled in the triple-figures, so that was nice. It was awesome to have
everyone out to party and I scored some sweet presents including a rad red

seem to get it to format properly on Wintel web browsers. If anyone knows how
I can better format the export from Excel to display well on Windows, please
hip me to it. Otherwise go buy a mac as it looks fine on them. Wednesday we kicked it downtown to the Timberwolves/Lakers game.
Dre and I usually go to a couple games a season, but had never been to a
LakersÕ game (weÕd actually wanted to go to the Bucks game Friday). It was
odd. On an average regular season Wednesday night, the Target center is
half-full of dudes and their placating significant others. On LakersÕ night,
the place is packed and crawling with girls dressed in the most outrageous
outfits for a basketball game youÕve ever seen, I saw more whored-up biscuits
in that place than on a good night @ Myth (I surmise). It was totally
weird. LakersÕ bench killed the

terrific a partner in crime as I. So here is the rundown: Friday – Kicked it Holiday style at the Holidazzle
Parade. Yes it is the same every year. So what. ItÕs cute as hell. We got a good
look from atop a planter in front of Crystal Court. My favorite was the circus train. Followed that up with a little jog down to the Local
for coffee of the Irish variety and some booby gazing. We then jumped a bus
back to Nordeast for what we thought would be some dinner at Alma,
however they were closed for a private party. Jerks. So we hightailed it to
our favorite, The Modern and ate yummy yummy foods. Finished the excellent meal with
excellent shitty beers @ the Springer with Tim & Megan. I
like hanging out with Megan as she finds me obnoxious and I enjoy giving her
reasons to keep thinking so. Saturday – Started out the day running errands then kicking
it at the Central Library. Considerably less busy then the last
time we were there, very pleasant. I was feeling arty, so I took a bunch of
photographs (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 ). While at the Library we found this story
from the 1895 Minnesota Journal about a prostitution bust. Quote of all quotes? ÒDuring
the year the police arrested 176 lewd women in confectionary storesÉÓ

the Local to watch Watford lose. Bummer. Did some Christmas shopping at
Target, then went home to prepare for the festivities at Mad Mikey ReedÕs
Hacienda. Went to Auriga to try some of the new menu. I had the
anchovy amuse and the duck liver ravioli, both of which were a pleasure.
Auriga always uses the perfect ÒDavid PearsonÓ amount of salt when seasoning.
Then to Mike & Sara(h)s ( 1 2 3 4 ) Terrific spread, better Tom & Jerrys,
the best yet was the impromptu singing. Great time with great people! Sunday – PACKERS WIN! Went to the Herk to
watch the Packers win despite the lack of sauerkraut and serving of brats
with ketchup. Ketchup? ItÕs a brat, not a McDonaldÕs cheeseburger. Ketchup.
BAH-HUMBUG! There was much celebrating followed by trying-on a snowsuit @ Tatters that I think she looks
stunning in. Finished the
weekend with dinner at Nala Pak with Jon & Amy. Jon and I had
ThaliÕs, he the south, I the north. Neither of us came close to cleaning our

regarding a New YearÕs afterparty and an exploratory committee has been
created to look further into interest levels for such an event. If you have
interest in partying and being loud and possibly meeting some of the 5th
precinctÕs finest. ________[12.11.2006]_________________________________ Holiday season! This
is, without a doubt, my favorite time of year. I love Miracle on 34th
Street, I love Christmas music, I love the lights, but most of all I love the
war on Christmas. A ÒChristianÓ holiday BATHED in pagan symbolism and
tradition has had war declared on itÉitÕs awesome. Nothing really comes into
itÕs own until war has been declared on it. So I came up with a Òmust-doÓ list for the holidays. It includes
the following (Andrea and I actually do these things every year, but I wrote
them down this year to make it easier to declare war on them later): 1)
Attend the Holidazzle parade at least once and drink 2 for
1 Irish coffees at the Local afterward 2)
Go ice-skating at the Depot 3)
Go skiing at Welch Village 4)
Rush the Guthrie to see A Christmas Carol 5)
Totally kick it at Winter Carnival (something we havenÕt done yet) The Holidazzle is fun. I donÕt care if youÕre some snobby hipster
barista or whatever; the parade is fun so get lost if you donÕt like it. Two
years ago at the Depot Dre and I saw a drunken homeless guy take a face-first
immediate nap into the gutter on Washington while we were skating. We saw his
rescue by some beat cops and an ambulance unfold in an odd persistence of
vision linkage of moments that resulted from only catching 10 seconds of the
drama at a time as we skated around the rink. Welch Village is not a great
place to ski in the grand scheme but I think itÕs the best we have and big
enough that the slopes donÕt turn to ice the minute the place opens. Every
year we rush the Guthrie for Christmas Carol and end up getting the sweet $70
seats for $12. And in 5 years of living here, I have never had the pleasure
of partying at Winter CarnivalÉthis year I right that wrong! We were at World Market last week and hiding amongst the wicker
found McVitties! I ate about 20 of these biscuits at
JayÕs place in London and got hooked. You dip them in your tea for 8 seconds
and they come out perfectly soggy. That evening I invented a new snack. ItÕs totally delicious and contains
about 1000% of your daily sodium intake. My office holiday-party was this past weekend and we got to enjoy
the Happy
Gnome. The best part
about this place is the totally adorable neighborhood it is in. I believe CityPages
called it Òa neighborhood bar worth moving to the neighborhood forÓ. I know
Ack lives near here, possibly within walking distance. We had been to the Muddy Pig
before, but the Gnome is a little warmer. Not as good a beer list as the
Bulldog but a good one indeed. It includes the beers of Viking Brewing
Company of Dallas Wisconsin, a brewery I once visited with JayPee. Needless to say I had a Berserk but
ended the evening with pants intact. After dinner, we headed to the Rollergirls
bout at the Roy. My coworkers know how to keep it real and we traded PBRs all
night. The worst band in the world played. They wereÉthe worst. By the wayÉpeep the score in that last
pic. The MN Rollergirls brought it. More to come as we ate at Chiapas this week and have some new
